Part of the Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival's acclaimed Documentaries & Dialogue series. This brand new film based on the autobiographical book A Tale of Love and Darkness by Amos Oz features appearances by Paul Auster, Nadine Gordimer and Salman Rushdie, and documents the political trajectory of one of Israel’s most distinguished humanists. Perceiving Israeli settlements as anathema to the early Zionist vision of self-determination and religious freedom, Oz’s controversial perspective on the Israeli occupation, and his acceptance of the prestigious Heinrich Heine Prize from Germany are explored in this poetic and profound documentary. Directed by Yonathan Zur, 75 minutes. New Speaker Announcement: Dr. Ranen Omer-Sherman, Professor of English and Jewish Studies, The University of Miami.
