Gene Shay Presents: Carsie Blanton
April 22, 2011
Join PSALM for an intimate evening with Gene Shay, the world renowned, Grammy nominated "Grandfather of Folk" featuring stories, jokes, artist interview and an evening of stellar music, all in Philadelphia's best listening room. An optional dinner will be catered by the incomparable Avril Restaurant to round out a perfect evening of music, conversation and camaraderie. Winsome Philadelphia-based pop-folk songwriter Carsie Blanton, who takes her musical cues from Nina Simone and Cleo Brown as much as Joni Mitchell or John Prine, already had an unusual amount of living under her belt by the time she released her first album while still a teenager. An aficionado of vintage styles--both sartorial and musical--who rarely performs without a flower adorning her curly brown hair, Blanton is also a teacher of swing and blues dancing.
