Marbling: Decorative Papers & Silks Workshop
April 29, 2011
Marbling is the art of creating floating designs on top of a dense liquid; science and art converge in this exciting workshop! Marbling is really fun and simple; designs are created by dripping, combining and raking colors into swirled, floating patterns. You’ll be learning a specific type of marbling called Ebru, invented in the 15th century, in Turkey. Google “Turkish Marbling” and see a range of great examples! You’ll make loads of prints; just lay the pre-treated rice paper and 2 silk scarves over the liquid surfaces and watch the colors “print” your designs; it’s really quit magical.
