Early Bloomers in a Changing Climate: Winter Lecture Series
February 27, 2011
The spring of 2010 was a dramatic example of plants flowering earlier than normal. But is there a trend towards earlier bloom times? In this presentation, Zoe Panchen will describe some of the current research on phenology and her own research into Piedmont native species and their flowering response to a changing climate. Her research even includes data from Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve. On a winter’s day, enjoy photos of springtime native flowers. They may be blooming early again this year.
