Take a photographic journey with Rhoda Maurer, Assistant Curator and Greenhouse Manager for the Scott Arboretum, through the desert of Death Valley up the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada range and over Tioga Pass into Yosemite Valley. She will be sharing images she took during a photographic workshop in the autumn of 2010 with famous photographers of the American west (Jack Dykinga, Jay Dusard and Bruce Barnbaum) and a full day of one-on-one mentoring with the impressionistic photographer, William Neill. Temperatures, geology and flora will represent the extremes starting at 282 feet below sea level at Badwater Basin (the USA's point of lowest elevation) going up to 11,680 feet on the alpine trails of the White Mountains, through Yosemite National Park and finally back down to Yosemite Valley and the giant sequoias. Space is limited to 100 people for this lecture. Free and open to the public, Travels at Twelve are an informal way to share what has been seen and discovered in various gardens and natural spaces both in the United States and abroad.
