The Art of Cameras
November 1-December 29, 2010
Cameras are everywhere! It seems that almost every new electronic device has a camera of one sort or another. However, not too long ago, just a generation back, cameras were used for one purpose and one purpose only: to make a visual record of an event, person, or scene. While this single-mindedness is now out of fashion, at one point cameras were a part of our society's fashion sense. In addition to cameras made for use by professional photographers, some cameras were designed to be gimmicky, intricate and extraordinary. This collection from Tom Holtje captures the charm, fun, creativity and The Art of Cameras.
There will be a special presentation and discussion of this fascinating collection on Monday November 15, 2010 7:00pm at Parkway Central Library, room 108.
