The community is invited to visit this collection. Guests are asked to register at PBU’s Smith Administration Building—South Entrance. PBU would like to thank White Stone Gallery for its partnership in presenting this exhibit.  In June of 2008, a group of artists from Asia and North America gathered in Indonesia to participate in an experiment in cross-cultural engagement. This exhibit is the result of that endeavor. The word charis comes from the Greek for “favor” or “grace” but is perhaps most accurately translated “goodwill.” It was selected because the term makes us think of our shared heritage as Christians and our unity in the body of Christ because it belongs no more or less to any one group. This body of work represents the artists’ ongoing dialogue about the challenges of cross-cultural communication and understanding, and the need for people of faith to address real-world issues of social and economic justice, peace and reconciliation, and the effects of globalization wherever one lives.
