The distinguished violist Michael Tree, a founding member of the Guarneri Quartet, played with that ensemble for forty-five years until its final concerts in 2009. Mr. Tree has performed on virtually every concert series throughout the world and has recorded more than eighty chamber music works for the Columbia, RCA, Philips, Arabesque, Nonesuch and Vanguard labels. A member of the Curtis faculty since 1968, Mr. Tree is a consummate chamber musician who joins with Curtis students for a program of duets for varied combinations with works by Bartók, Piston, Joachim, Le Clair and Rolla.
