The Art and Soul of Frame Drumming with Master Drummer Glen Velez and Rhythm Voice Virtuoso Lori Cotler. A Three-Part Workshop Series with Student Concert. Session 2 of 3. Participants need not have prior drum training. All levels (beginners-advanced) will be accommodated. Glen Velez Signature Series Frame Drums and Shakers will be provided. This is a rare opportunity to learn the Glen Velez Signature Frame Drum and Shaker styles from the legendary master himself. Each series participant will receive a signed certificate of completion and an individual photograph with Glen Velez and Lori Cotler. A gourmet buffet will be available from Avril. Session 2 will feature Southern Italian Cuisine. Instrument Focus: Session 2--Riq and Velez MediterrAsian Style.
In this course the student will master a variety of fascinating and diverse tambourine styles that greatly enhance the approach of traditional western playing. By gaining skills on the Riq (Arabic Tambourine) as well as mastering innovative stroke combinations from South Italy, South India, Northern Spain and North Africa, students will readily produce a dramatic new tambourine soundscape.
