LECTURES & LITERATURE

Philadelphia Squared Lecture Series: Logan Square: The 20th Century Square Lecturer: John Alviti
November 7, 2010
The Philadelphia Art Alliance is pleased to announce part 4 of their newest series, Philadelphia Squared. Continuing in their new dedication to the advancement and appreciation of contemporary craft and design, PAA will host a series of 5 lectures exploring the history, design and architectural features of Philadelphia’s 5 main squares, now known as Washington, Franklin, Rittenhouse, Logan (circle) and Penn Square. John Alviti, Senior Curator of Collections at the Franklin Institute, will lead a lecture and presentation on Logan Square, now known as Logan Circle. Named after James Logan, secretary to Pennsylvania founder William Penn, Logan Square now sits in the heart of Philadelphia's arts and cultural center, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
