This one-session, stand-alone class is built around a newly restored version of Fritz Lang's Metropolis, the groundbreaking 1927 science-fiction classic. Students will receive a reading about Metropolis, an introductory lecture before the film and a guided discussion after the film. In addition, your ticket to see it on the big screen, as well as popcorn and a drink, are included. This seminar is sponsored in honor of philosopher, educator, author and filmmaker Jose Ferrater-Mora.
