The Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia is pleased to host for the second straight year Netherlands artist and teacher Carmen Mensink, for a series of instructional workshops November 12th through December 5th, on the art and craft of Tibetan Buddhist imagery and thangka painting. This remarkable series of classes and workshops--ten in all--will be offered over five weeks. Events will include slideshows and talks about the art and symbolism of thangka paintings, as well as hands-on drawing and painting workshops in which students will experience this beautiful, meditative form of art first hand. In this weekend you will learn how to draw White Tara according to the traditional Tibetan Buddhist thangka scroll paintings. White Tara is one of the main longevity deities in the Tibetan buddhist pantheon. This course is suitable for everyone, including beginners with no drawing experience whatsoever. Please bring 2 sheets of thick drawing paper (20"x25"), an 18" ruler, HB pencils (pref. a mechanical pencil), a hard eraser and a soft kneadable gray one.
