The Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia is pleased to host for the second straight year Netherlands artist and teacher Carmen Mensink for a series of instructional workshops on the art and craft of Tibetan Buddhist imagery and thangka painting. This remarkable series of classes and workshops--ten in all--will be offered over five weeks. Events will include slideshows and talks about the art and symbolism of thangka paintings, as well as hands-on drawing and painting workshops in which students will experience this beautiful, meditative form of art first hand. In this workshop you will learn how to draw the face of the Buddha according to traditional Tibetan thangka scroll paintings. The workshop will also include a short meditation, great explanations and a lot of individual guidance. This workshop is suitable for everyone, including beginners with no drawing experience whatsoever.

Please bring 2 sheets of thick drawing paper (11"x17" or larger), an 18" ruler, HB pencils (pref. a mechanical pencil), a hard eraser and a soft knead-able gray one. Color pencils or paints are optional.
