Cleopatra and the End of the Hellenistic World
October 29-October 30, 2010
This symposium, jointly organized by the Penn Museum and the Oxford Centre for Maritime Archaeology, based at the Institute of Archaeology, University of Oxford, complements the exhibition Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt at The Franklin Institute and the Penn Museum's special "Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt" tour. Day 1, held at the Franklin Institute, will explore the place of Cleopatra and Egypt within the Hellenistic world. Day 2, at the Penn Museum, will examine continuity and discontinuity in Alexandria and the wider world of the Roman Mediterranean.
