Last year, singer/songwriter Rod Kim decided to pack up his keyboard, quit his day job, and embark on a yearlong tour across the country. Kim specializes in lovelorn piano pop songs ala Ben Folds. His songs read like journal entries, and though it is clear he has experienced heartbreak, he remains upbeat and hopeful. Kim's melodies are simple and catchy, and while he may be moving in a more polished, commercial direction, his lyrics continue to speak to listeners on a personal level. The resounding theme throughout his songs is that love, both romantic and spiritual, can change a man's life. Look forward to great things from this artist, and that someday soon he gets his "freaking happy ending."

"Singer-songwriters with an acoustic and a nice smile come and go. There's got to be substance in the arrangements, the melodies, the lyrics. There has to be feeling and empathy. The New England-based multi-instrumentalist-formerly enrolled at the prestigious Berklee College of Music-is already a natural at enrapturing audiences, and now he's on the verge of his mainstream breakthrough.

The prolific Walsh has turned heads with two critically- and commercially-acclaimed full-lengths, 2008's Please Remember and 2009's revelatory Seeing Stars, a record he composed entirely on his own. ("I think of that album as one of the most honest points in my career," he muses.) For such a young artist, Walsh possesses an impressive range that has earned a devoted legion of admirers (6 national tours), from the plaintive fan-favorite "Melissa" to the lush, up-tempo "Catch My Eye." Such variety has earned him gigs with acts as diverse as pop-rockers A Rocket To The Moon and chart-topping singer-songwriter Idina Menzel."
