Hands-On Tour: Morning, Noon, and Night in Early Philadelphia
October 13, 2010
Explore books and broadsides from colonial and early 19th-century Philadelphia that re?ect aspects of daily life from the humble to the momentous. Visitors will see an 1813 children’s primer, almanacs and a cookbook with helpful tips on doing laundry, baking delicious eel pie and protecting one’s family from cholera. From the Rosenbach’s extensive collection of Broadsides we will learn about the local uproar caused by the Boston Tea Party and early warnings of the impending British occupation of this city. About Hands-on Tours: Created especially for visitors who seek an in-depth look at the Rosenbach Museum & Library's collections, Hands-On Tours allow you to get in touch with objects from the collection that are not usually on view to the public.
