The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library in collaboration with the Bristol Oral History Initiative committee is pleased to host an exhibition of historic photographs and artifacts depicting Life on the Home Front: Bristol during World War II. The public is invited to attend. The exhibition marks the start of The War Years 1938 – 1945: On the Home Front, the Bristol Oral History Initiative committee’s project of compiling personal recollections gathered from individuals living and working in Bristol Borough during the years 1938 to 1945. These recollections will focus on how World War II affected life in Bristol Borough. The project strives to answer questions such as: how did Bristol respond to the war effort, how people felt about the war, what life was like during these years, and how the war changed Bristol. Individuals’ life experiences will be recorded with video and audio interviews, and archived as part of the Oral History Initiative in the Bristol History Collection held at the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library. The interviews, as well as transcripts of the interviews, will be available for research, education, and the general public’s personal enjoyment.
