Rain gardens are an excellent way to absorb rainwater runoff from roofs, driveways, sidewalks, and lawns so that it can soak into the ground. Learn how to add rain gardens to the landscape where they will be effective. See examples of rain gardens planted with suitable native plants. Native plants are recommended for rain gardens because they generally don’t require fertilizer and are more tolerant of local climate, soil, and water conditions. We will also cover selecting and preparing a site, determining the size of the garden, choosing native plant species appropriate for conditions, and using rain barrels in rain gardens.
