Musical development in the Renaissance involved a lot more than choruses of celestial angels clustered on a celestial pin: secular, singable tunes in the madrigal form celebrated everything from love to lust to lunch. In this spectacle of madrigals, Chestnut Street Singers will venture through the genre's five centuries of adaptation, performing madrigals set to traditional love poetry alongside those dedicated to drinking, taxes and the silliest double entendres ever sung in a church. Free love, free admission
