Join Norman Rockwell Museum Chief Curator Stephanie Plunkett for a lively look at the art and history of the graphic novel, past and present. A burgeoning art form with its roots planted firmly in history, the graphic novel has brought focus to a diversity of relevant subjects, from the complex nature of relationships to the perils of war. Powerful imagery and popular genres, including memoir, fantasy, and political commentary by legendary creators will be explored. Stephanie Plunkett is the Deputy Director/Chief Curator of the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. She is the curator of "LitGraphic: The World of the Graphic Novel" and other exhibitions exploring the cultural significance of the art of illustration. This lecture is presented in support of the exhibition, "LitGraphic: The World of the Graphic Novel." Organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum, this touring exhibit features over 200 original art works, including paintings, drawings, storyboards, studies, books, photographs, and a documentary film offering insights into the lives of the artists and the nature of their work.
