The Scarlet Letter
November 19-November 21, 2010
Set in 17th Century Boston, Hester Prynne, convicted of adultery, is publically humiliated on the town scaffold with her infant daughter in her arms. Forced to wear a scarlet letter "A", Hester refuses to name her lover the charismatic young preacher, Arthur Dimmesdale. In the crowd, she is shocked to see her husband, presumed to have been lost at sea. Calling himself Roger Chillingworth, the older man plots to discover Hester's secret and seek revenge on her lover. Sung in English with supertitles.
