Delorean
November 22, 2010
The Spanish dance-pop band that helped define the bright, beachside sound of last summer on their Ayrton Senna EP returns with an LP that builds on that success. Subiza is proudly informed by the resiliency and vigor of classic club music: Its title recalls the famously nightclub-centric Ibiza and the Balearic dance music that originated there, and Delorean reflect the influence of that time, place, and sound through a nostalgic lens to create beautifully surging, shimmering trance-pop. Uncommonly bound by tempo and mood, the record quickly piles up enough winning moments to leave you dizzy. Synth-pop, Balearic disco, indie-house: Call it what you want. Delorean just make beautiful, modern pop music.
