The Lost Weekend
November 3, 2010
Based on the novel of the same name by Charles R. Jackson, The Lost Weekend recounts the heartbreaking life of writer Don Birnam as he struggles with his undeniable addiction to the bottle. Billy Wilder (Double Indemnity) directs Ray Milland in an Oscar-winning performance as the lamentable Birnam in one of the first Hollywood films to address alcoholism as a disease. This screening will be introduced by Dr. Marina Cooney, Main Line Health psychiatrist and medical director for the Center for Addictive Diseases. The event is co-sponsored by Bryn Mawr Hospital and a part of the "What's Up Doc?" film series.
