This class will review the structure and elements of the genre short story. Description, powerful openings and other factors will be discussed. This class will concentrate on both in-class and at home writing exercises to strengthen the lessons and help students develop story ideas and stories of their own. Useful and productive feedback of students’ work will be sought in the safe environment of the class. Instructor Joe De Marco’s stories and essays have appeared in more than a dozen anthologies and he has been a correspondent for the Advocate, In Touch and numerous others and he is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Mysterical-E. Joe DeMarco’s new novel, Murder on Camac is available at Giovanni’s Room and elsewhere.
