Natalie Merchant with DSO
October 19, 2010
Embarking on her first major tour in seven years, acclaimed singer-songwriter Natalie Merchant performs an intimate, symphonic performance, accompanied by players from Delaware Symphony Orchestra. Merchant will perform not only her hits, but songs from her long-awaited album Leave Your Sleep, a six-year project in which the accomplished songstress researched, wrote, and recorded a collection of adaptations from the works of various classic and contemporary poets. “Gentle, lush and magnificent,” hails the Daily Telegraph of Merchant’s newest project. After numerous hits with 10,000 Maniacs, Merchant began her solo career in 1994 with the self-produced album Tigerlily, which astounded the music industry by selling over 4 million copies. During her 28-year career, Merchant has collaborated both on stage and in the studio with a wide range of artists, including recent Grand performers David Byrne, Wilco and Chris Botti.
