Explore a range of jewelry making techniques and media! In this exciting class you’ll focus on a variety of jewelry processes, have time to work and explore, and experiment with ways to mix and match techniques and materials to create your own jewelry style! You’ll be amazed at the quality of work you can create with practice, material knowledge and technical know-how and you can take it to your kitchen-studio. Be guided through basic beading; make multi-strand beaded pieces, hammer, wrap and twist silver wire with beads into pendants or use as components to earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Create elegant lasso necklaces with chain and drop beads. Sculpt silver clay into beads, pendants, rings and clasps. Fuse glass into pendants. Crochet wire. Wrap beads with fabric. Explore your creative process and get crafty! Fairmount Art Center will provide materials for the first class along with all tools, equipment, stringing wire and a package of silver clay (enough to create several small pieces of jewelry.) You’ll want (and need) to shop for beads, findings (clasps and stuff) and wire that suit your aesthetics; they’ll give you tips on where to buy and who has the best deals around town!
