Learn to sew! Fairmount Art Center will walk you through all the basics from machine threading to pattern reading. Be guided through successive projects that are designed to build your skills! Never sewn before? Great! Never made a bag before or worked from patterns? Then join FAC! Here’s the scoop, they’ve picked 3 really hip patterns from Amy Butler, a great designer who also makes really fabulous prints. They're going to start with her “Stash & Dash” bags, then move onto the “Birdie Sling” bag, they’ll finish up with the “Messenger” bag. Google these bags online and you’ll know exactly what FAC students will be working on and find yourself never without a bag for the right occasion! They provide sewing machines (but if you have your own, they recommend you bring it so that you can learn how it works). Fairmount Art Center will also provide all other tools and equipment and the materials for the first night of class. You’ll want (and need) to shop for all the cute prints that match your style for the two main bags and thread to match and they’ll give you shopping tips on where to find the coolest prints!
