Sponsored by New Hope Arts, Inc., the weekend of art, food and fun features a photographic exhibition, children’s activities, a self-guided gallery and plein air painting tour of the New Hope area, and the culinary arts event of the year, Savor New Hope, a smorgasbord of entertainment and signature culinary delights from some of New Hope’s finest restaurants. Showcase the Arts kicks off with New Hope: In Character, a photographic exhibition of some of New Hope’s most distinguished “characters” by award-winning freelance photographer Bob Krist. Visitors to New Hope can participate in a free self-guided tour of local art galleries and plein air artists. New Hope Arts offers a map and guide of 6 plein air painting locations and a listing of 17 local galleries. On Saturday and Sunday, a local photographer will lead a group of photography novices on a stroll up the Delaware & Raritan Canal for some interesting “shooting.” Wanna-be photographers must sign-up in advance and bring their own equipment. Tickets include professional guidance and coaching by well-known local photographer Rick Gould. The weekend culminates with Savor New Hope, a perpetual favorite summer culinary event. Stockton Street will be closed to through traffic to accommodate this feast for the senses.
