This tour led by Claire Rodgers starts with pottery from 6000 BC and unfolds through many cultures and important ceramic prototypes ending with American pottery from the early 20th century. MLAC will look at these ceramic works of art from a potter’s point of view: how it was made, glazed and fired. What were the design decisions of these ancient potters? You will find that everything made today has been informed and inspired by those before us. Tour-goers will meet at the Education entrance on the south (river) side of the PMA.
