Join Scott Arboretum staff for a memorable excursion to New York City where you will explore two sites that have been transformed into beautiful public areas with innovative plantings. October is a perfect time to experience these sites, both designed by acclaimed Dutch horticulturist Piet Oudolf. Battery Park’s swaths of plantings showcase his style of color, texture, seasonal variation and plant life cycles. The High Line is inspired by the wild, self-seeded landscape that grew on the railbed when the trains stopped running and features drought-tolerant species of grasses and shrubs, with a focus on native plants. Private tours will give the group insight into the history, vision and care of these New York City destinations. Bring your own lunch, refreshments will be provided on the bus. Dress for weather and walking. Limited to 25. Membership to the Scott Arboretum is required.
