Gallery 339 will present Days with My Father, an exhibition of works by Phillip and Edward Toledano. This exhibition accompanies the recent release of Days with My Father, Phillip’s photo journal of caring for his aging father, Edward. After Phillip’s mother died in 2006, Phillip found himself suddenly charged with the care of his 96-year-old father. While Edward did not have Alzheimer’s, and was often quite lucid and sharp, he no longer had any short-term memory, which led him to be easily confused and lost. Phillip found that the time together allowed him to see things about his father that he had forgotten or never known. During the three years that he cared for Edward, Phillip began to take photographs of his father and to post these photographs on a blog. The blog ultimately led to the publication of Days with My Father in June 2010 from Chronicle Books. The gallery will host a book signing and reception on Thursday, September 30 from 6-8 pm.
