It’s an abandoned place, where abandoned people meet. They are trying to recreate the routines of their former lives—their work, their culture, their food, their speech, their dancing. Mixing contemporary dance, salsa, disco, Beethoven, pedestrian actions, masks, real-time video, real-time processed sound, speech and pop music from Latin America and the US, Decadere takes its dancers (Bethany Formica and Scott McPheeters with Colombian dancers Carolina del Hierro and Marcelo Rueda) through a whirlwind interdisciplinary performance. This show includes nudity. Previous Live Arts Festival show: Voyeur (2007). Decadere is supported by grants from the Independence Foundation and The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through Dance Advance.
