"Ghetto to Gayborhood" will highlight the tremendous positive impact that  the LGBT community has had on the re-vitalization of downtown Philadelphia. The William Way LGBT Community Center will present archival images of the "Lurid Locust" straight bars and strip clubs in the 60s, local newspaper articles, pictures of the 1965 Dewey's sit-in against LGBT prejudice and amazing "before and after" glimpses of 13th Street.  "Ghetto to Gayborhood" will be a visual "thank you" to the LGBT community and business owners for their work and creativity in transforming a seedy, dangerous section of the city into a vibrant, safe and welcoming neighborhood. This Saturday is the public's last chance to view the display before it closes in August!
