Pianist Nelson Freire
February 3, 2011
A keyboard legend with over 50 years of international experience, Grammy Award winner Freire joins PCMS from his native Brazil for a rare Philadelphia appearance. The New York Times raves that “in an age when overt showmanship reaps big rewards and grabs lots of attention, Freire offers a gentle reminder that decorous piano playing and interpretive depth have an irresistible power all their own.” Sonatas by Brahms and Kabalevsky highlight a program that also features pieces by Mendelssohn, Prokofiev and Liszt.
