When Ian McCarthy and Jason Marshall left their former band in 2006 to start something new, they had one goal in mind: to develop a sound that was distinctive, but also warmly referential to their favorite indie rock groups of the past. Rennie Settanni and Joe Yanick shared in this vision, and together the four formed The Codes. With lyrical contributions from John Abney, The Codes have honed their own unique style, drawing from their shared influences and the deep well of American rock and roll tradition.

With Tom on drums, Pat on bass, and Dan on guitar/keys/vocals, the band creates a sound almost too large for a simple three piece. As one reviewer describes the live show, "Dan's bluesy slide playing during the verse contrasts sharply with Pat's fuzz-laden bass . . . providing the prerequisite wall of rhythm that would drive the Penrose sound. With the rhythmic vehicle mobilized, the sound was poised to wail."

A Million Years are a Brooklyn-based four piece who are making music for your grey matter. Stimulated by the intellectualism and sonic experimentation of bands like Radiohead, Spoon and Wilco, they strive to create a world of smart, brooding characters wandering around in our digitized soundscape. “We like listening to A Million Years in the morning, because the Brooklyn band gets us out of bed. Their focused, spiraling melodies fall somewhere between driving music and sci-fi theme song, except with a rocking bass...we have a feeling their also influenced by the satisfying smack that a snare drum can make when you’re feeling really hyper, sexed-up, or pissed off.” Nylon Mag.
