Movie Night at Paulsdale: Iron Jawed Angels
October 28, 2010
To emphasize the importance of voting on Election Day, the Alice Paul Institute hosts a movie night at historic Paulsdale. HBO's Iron-Jawed Angels (2004) tells the remarkable story of the aggressive and inventive women's suffrage campaign led by Alice Paul (Hillary Swank) and Lucy Burns (Frances O'Conner). In their aggressive struggle for the vote, the two led suffragists to parade, petition, and picket the White House in 1917. Enduring arrests, brutal beatings and harrowing forced-feedings in jail, the suffragists of the National Woman's Party carried on, determined to win their right to vote. Donations welcome.
