Cheryl was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, where she studied to be a classically trained percussionist at McGill University. She spent years touring with The Montreal Yiddish Theatre where she performed all over Europe and Russia. With other classical ensembles, she also toured Canada, The US, Norway and Scotland. After moving to NY city where she spent 12 years playing in various rock bands, she also studied the dumbek and performed Middle Eastern Music with Scott Wilson. It was while she was performing her own songs at various venues around town, that she started to accompany other songwriters with percussion. It is also where she met her husband, Charles Nolan. The two have written many songs together. Some that were performed by the group Cheryl helped found, CC Railroad. Now based in Philadelphia, Cheryl has worked with the likes of: Jonathan Edwards, Pat Wictor, Tracy Grammer, Full Frontal Folk, Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul, & Mary), Janet Robin, The Kennedy's, and more.
