After establishing himself as an indie rock icon in the 1980s as the leader of The Smiths, Morrissey embarked on a spectacular solo career that saw him release the acclaimed albums Viva Hate and You Are the Quarry. An incredibly charismatic live performer, Morrissey will release a new album, Years of Refusal, in 2009. Often noted as one of the key pop lyricists of his generation, many subsequent artists have hailed Morrissey's influence. Up-and-coming British band The Courteeners will open the evening.
