It's the melee on the Parkway, the fracas at the Free Library Festival! In an unprecedented inter-city StorySlam spectacular, five challengers from Chicago will battle five hometown Philadelphian storytellers to determine which is the more storied city. Storytellers have five minutes to tell their true stories, which have to relate to the theme, ''Mortified.'' The winner will be invited to perform at the Grand Slam during the 2009 First Person Festival in November. Ryan T. Barlow, the 2008 Grand Slam winner, represents Philly alongside four StorySlam winners from upcoming StorySlam events.

The First Person StorySlam takes place on the Bank of America Main Stage.
