Yuichi Hibi: Neco
March 20-May 16, 2009
Noted for his photographs that portray the menacing and beautiful character of nighttime streetscapes, Yuichi Hibi brings this same ambivalent and at times unsettling vision to the seemingly cloying subject of the feline species. Through a group of decidedly unsentimental ''cat'' pictures, Hibi chips away at the inscrutable surface, revealing the assurance, elegance and ferocity of these creatures. The exhibition accompanies the recent release of Neco, a monograph by fine-art photography publisher Nazraeli Press.
