Ensemble Lucidarium | Ain neue Lid: When Yiddish was Young
March 19, 2009
Ensemble Lucidarium, one of Italy's top medieval and Renaissance ensembles, is directed by Francis Biggi and Philadelphia native Avery Gosfield. Known for its groundbreaking research and energetic performances, the ensemble won the EAJC Award for musical creation for La Istoria de Purim: Music and Poetry of the Jews of Renaissance Italy. With Ain neue Lid, the ensemble recreates the music of the 16th-century Ashkenaz, the era that planted the seeds of Yiddishkeit and a musical tradition that has identified a group of people for hundreds of years.
