    Inspired by the perpetual mortification that is the hallmark of teenage existence, Colson Whitehead explores racial and class identity in his new coming-of-age novel, Sag Harbor. His previous books include The Intuitionistand John Henry Days, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize. His most recent works, The Colossus of New York and Apex Hides the Hurt were chosen as New York Times Notable Books. Recipient of the Whiting Writer's Award and a MacArthur grant, Whitehead's writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Village Voice, and Salon.
