America Rising Series: Elliott, A Soldier's Fugue
May 3, 2009
Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue, traces the legacy of war through three generations of a Puerto Rican family. A remarkable play, by Philadelphia native and current Broadway librettist Quiara Allegria Hudes, in which 19 year old Elliot returns home from Iraq with a leg injury, facing some difficult questions. While not a full production, this staged reading is the centerpiece of an evening of live entertainment, food and drink, with an extensive talk-back with the cast, and director. This play is one of a series of staged readings celebrating playwrights of today, opening the door to the hottest new voices of the American Theatre
