Mitsuko Uchida, piano
April 27, 2009
An iconic figure, Mitsuko Uchida's compelling personality, combining intense intelligence, charm, sensitivity and elemental power, will be on full display when this revered artist brings two substantial works of astonishing originality to the Perelman Theater: Beethoven's Op. 101 Sonata, which in the composer's output immediately precedes the Hammerklavier, and Schumann's great C Major Fantasy, both a tribute to Beethoven and an inspired paean of love. Uchida is a performer who brings to her audiences a deep insight into the music she plays through her own search for truth and beauty.
