Combine the hubris of a Greek drama, the neuroses of a typical American family, and the acerbic wit of Main Line man Nicky Silver. Throw in a dash of murder-by-shower-head, attempted murder-by-hired-prostitute, and pen-paling-with-murder-on-death-row, and begin to taste what it means to be Raised in Captivity. Add a pinch of unplanned pregnancy, a dash of disillusioned dentistry and a touch of guilty therapist self-induced blindness. Simmer.
