Building on Balanchine
April 14-April 17, 2011
Pennsylvania Ballet honors its Balanchine heritage with two works from the master choreographer exemplifying his creative breadth. Agon is an organic collaboration between George Balanchine and Igor Stravinsky, who together designed the structure of this ballet during the creation of the music. Minimalist costumes and sets let Balanchine’s choreography take center stage. Then, Who Cares? brings a bit of Broadway to the ballet! You’ll be tapping your toes to the lively George Gershwin score, featuring beloved numbers like “The Man I Love” and “I Got Rhythm". This event is part of the 2011 Philadelphia International Festival Of The Arts (PIFA).
