The Delta or country blues, were spread by itinerant singer/guitarists, or harmonica players. Generally men, who traveled from one community to another singing about love, freedom, sex, and the sorrows of life. Robert Johnson was one of these and is the most admired and influential Delta blues artist his songs are blues classics—played by thousands of artists. With one foot in the past and one foot in the future MCCC will present both legendary blues artists with their contemporary legacy. Featuring Bluesman David “Honeyboy” Edwards who was playing with Johnson the night he died; guitarist Hubert Sumlin, a contemporary and band mate of Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf; and two of the next generation of blues/rock musicians they influenced, including Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Cedric Burnside and Lightnin’ Malcolm. This concert will rock you to your very soul!
