Miles Davis' Kind of Blue with Jimmy Cobb
February 11, 2011
One of the most important recordings of our time, Kind of Blue (originally released in 1959), is regarded as one of Miles Davis' primary masterworks. Besides being the best-selling jazz album of all time, it spearheaded an artistic revolution. Davis' turn from bop to modal jazz was a breakthrough in its era, and continues to influence jazz, pop, rock and classical musicians to this day. Beyond a mere reinterpretation, this celebration of the revolutionary album, lead by original drummer Jimmy Cobb, embodies Davis' progressive mid-century ideals along with his timeless melodicism.
