Edible World: The Spice Necklace
June 24, 2010
First Person Arts invites you to savor the spices and spells of the Caribbean over a meal of traditional Trinidadian cuisine. Ann Vanderhoof, author of the upcoming memoir The Spice Necklace, will share her travels on the sailboat Receta. Ann’s adventures sailing from port to port, plucking fresh nutmeg, eating oregano-infused goat and tracking down the best moonshine the islands have to offer will create the background for an al fresco meal at the Chestnut Hill Farmer’s Market, catered by Calypso. Calypso was recently praised by Rick Nichols in The Philadelphia Inquirer, and Calypso chef Claudette Campbell will reveal the culinary journey that took her from Trinidad to New York to Chestnut Hill.
