Creatures of Culture: North America
July 10-July 11, 2010
Zoo visitors are invited to travel around the world with our new Creatures of Culture International Series, as the tour makes a stop in North America.
Those who come hungry can enjoy our special Zoo menus in honor of regional American cuisine: Tex-Mex fajitas at Polar Bear Grill and nachos at Bird Lake; Cajun paninis at Impala; and New York hot dogs and Corn Dogs at Primates. On Saturday, visitors can taste authentic Pennsylvania Dutch fare from The Grill @ Smucker’s. On Sunday, Copabanana will be serving burritos and tacos.
Everyone is invited to watch traditional Native American performances by Ollin Yolizti Calmecac, the Southeastern Cherokee Confederacy, and Native Nations, and hear storytelling by Phoenix.
This is the perfect opportunity to hear keeper talks about animals from North America that reside in the Philadelphia Zoo, and to visit the Creatures of Habitat exhibits that explore endangered North American species. Children are invited to play games and make crafts inspired by North American animals.
Free with Zoo admission. Programming may vary each day.
